Some college professors are reintroducing oral exams.

Apr 28 2026

Some college professors are reintroducing oral exams. As AI reshapes how students learn and complete their work, some professors are returning to screen-free, paperless methods of testing. In many classrooms now, students are required to defend their written papers orally so that professors can weed out those who relied heavily on AI tools. It’s not just AI-driven, though. This is part of a broader push to get students re-engaged after the pandemic changed the dynamics of learning.
