There’s been a major shift in how and what young people drink. Gen Z’s beverage culture has gone through some pretty major shifts in recent years. Gone are the days of Starbucks frappuccinos and plain sparkling waters that Millennials loved. Gen Z is buying visually appealing matcha lattes, non-alcoholic “mood enhancing” drinks, and dirty sodas instead. Headlines have also long declared that young people are drinking less than previous gens. And as YPulse has unpacked before, this could be due to young adults being more focused on wellness and personal safety, or because of the high costs of a night out. In turn, young adults are moving away from habitual heavy drinking—although they might not turn down a BuzzBall. YPulse data—as Cool Shiny Culture notes—shows that 38% of 21-39-year-olds say they never drink, increasing from 28% in 2019. (Cool Shiny Culture)
