The Trump administration is looking to hire Gen Z workers.

Apr 01 2026

The Trump administration is looking to hire Gen Z workers.Last year, the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cut contracts and funding across sectors, making massive cuts to the federal workforce (nearly 400K employees). The cuts affected tons of early-career workers, at a time when young Americans have been increasingly struggling to land stable roles. Now, the government is launching a new “Early Career Talent Network” to give less experienced workers a chance at government work without committing decades in the public sector. The job network aims at “replenishing the pipeline of early-career” workers, as nearly half the population reportedly approaches retirement age in the next 10 years. Despite federal worker burnout and greater workloads, in a tough job market this might look like a potential foot in the door for Gen Z—especially in the finance and tech sectors the government is trying to keep up to speed on.
