It’s no longer uncommon for teen creators on Roblox to earn millions. YPulse has covered the rise of homemade games-within-the-game that become staples on the platform, from Grow a Garden to Steal a Brainrot. But more than a few lucky young game developers—many just tweens and teens—are getting huge payouts from it. Last year alone, $1.5B was paid out to creators, with earnings averaging $1.3M for the top 100 indie developers and companies, and over half of all creators’ highest education is a high school degree. Many are also earning from brand placements within their games, like a Walmart logo on a digital fishing rod made by a teen Roblox millionaire. Many earning from Roblox see it more as passive income than a career they have to work at non-stop. Some do continue making games because they’re simply young, passionate, and creative, but others are simply enjoying their new lifestyle. (Bloomberg)
