Gen Z is the most progressive generation on race—but on gender roles, not so much. According to the 2024 Cooperative Election Study data from over 60K Americans, Gen Z (18-29-year-olds) shows the lowest levels of “racial resentment” of any age group (i.e. a survey index measuring beliefs about structural vs. individual explanations for racial inequality). But for measures of sexism, like agreeing with statements such as “women seek to gain power by getting control over men,” Gen Z is slightly below average and nearly identical to the Silent Generation. Young people identifying as Republicans are even more likely to agree with sexist sentiments than their older counterparts, suggesting a regression in attitudes about gender. (Slate)
