Gen Z has increased their charitable giving by 67% since the pandemic—despite holding just 6-7% of U.S. household wealth. According to Tiltify, about a third of Gen Z donate $50-249 annually, roughly matching Boomers—who earn significantly more on average. GoFundMe links, crowdfunding campaigns, and payment apps have made generosity instant, and causes show up in their feeds daily. The difference is really highlighted in how and why they give, though: older generations tie donations to market stability and pull back when the economy feels shaky, but Gen Z never had that cushion. Now, if their favorite creator asks them to donate, 85% of Gen Z say they’d likely give, making it more than a personal inclination. As one Tiltify expert put it: Gen Z is stepping into the gaps that institutions should be filling. They’re not waiting until they’re wealthy to give back, they’re doing it now, with whatever they have. (Newsweek)
