France is moving to ban the sale of nicotine pouches. Starting in March 2026, nicotine pouches and their derivatives (gums, beads, tablets, etc.) will be forbidden in France. Originating in Sweden, “snus pouches” have become a trendy symbol among Gen Z and Millennials, and are seen as the “new nicotine gold rush” in the industry. The French National Health Security Agency had repeatedly raised concerns about the serious risks associated with nicotine pouches, especially for teens, although tobacco companies argue that just like vapes, they represent a less harmful alternatives to cigarettes. But, regardless, the ban will make it impossible for young people to get their hands on pouches. (France Bleu)
