Children today are growing up with their faces in screens, and all their toys are digitized—right? Not so fast. New data reveals that traditional play is still a major part of kids’ lives: 87% of parents say their children between 0-14-years-old play with items like dolls, board games, and arts and crafts each week. Not surprisingly, however, that number decreases as age increases: 52% of nine-12-year-olds partake in traditional play weekly, compared to 88% of preschoolers. Digital play is also starting early: 15% of babies zero to one-year-old in the U.S. (roughly 6000,000) are on mobile devices in the average week. (MediaPost)
