Facebook could be going after Uber’s market share. They’ve reportedly filed a patent for a ridesharing platform that will live under the Events page, to connect people who are attending the same event and looking for rides. Drivers would post how many passengers they could take on, and then invite others directly to their ride, or get matched by common interests. Facebook would then pass along a personalized route map to the driver. The tool could, in theory, create a more efficient alternative to cabs or on-demand transport services. (Refinery29)
