CoComelon is launching a new live-action series to rival YouTube favorite Ms. Rachel. Premiering in September, The Melon Patch stars Ms. Appleberry (Allie Rivera Quiñonez) alongside other teachers, guiding preschoolers through lessons in art, dance, and nature with songs, stories, and other playful activities. It marks CoComelon’s biggest push yet into live action, building on its massive animation success with nearly 200M subscribers on YouTube. The move also reflects the growing competition in kids’ edu-tainment. Ms. Rachel, who ranks sixth among 13-39-year-olds’ favorite current kids’ shows (just behind CoComelon in fourth) according to YPulse, has captured both young viewers and Millennial parents through YouTube and TikTok, where she shares parenting advice and kids’ lessons. With The Melon Patch, CoComelon is betting it can match that dual appeal while maintaining its hold on the preschool audience. (Tubefilter)
