Disney+ is going all-in on bundling by fully absorbing Hulu. The stand-alone Hulu app will be phased out in 2026 as Disney combines its full suite of entertainment, including live TV and sports, into one unified platform. The move follows Disney’s $9B acquisition of Comcast’s remaining Hulu stake and reflects young people’s affinity for entertainment bundling services—according to YPulse, 80% of Gen Z and Millennials call this “the new cable.” YPulse data also shows nearly half of 13-39-year-olds say they love the idea of streaming bundles, especially when they simplify access and offer more content for less money. And with prices of streaming services rising and many already cancelling subscriptions due to cost, Disney’s integration of Hulu may be the kind of simplification young people are ready to embrace.
