Google and Microsoft search engines will now show Instagram posts as results. This β€œindexing” update means that Instagram content will be added to the databases search engines pull from, so postsΒ can show up for relevant searches. It’s a part of recognizing the shifted norm toward social searching over traditional results, especially since a majority (78%) of 13-39-year-olds already use social media platforms to search for content, news, and products, according to YPulse. For brands, this could be a big deal as captions and hashtags can now impact how easily people find them on Google or Bing, not just their relevancy on Instagram alone. Additionally, it gives smaller and emerging brands a new way to stand out in search results without relying only on traditional SEO. (Glossy)
