Gen Z is once again bringing new styles, inspo, and rules to weddings. According to The Knot, one third of newlyweds in 2024 were Gen Z, and experts are noticing how the gen is transforming the wedding industry with their digital fluency, constant connection with social media, and affinity for AI tools.Β It should come as no surprise that Gen Zβs go-to for inspo is social media, not a traditional wedding book or wedding planner. And popular influencer weddings have not only provided inspiration but are also normalizing documenting the entire day online. Experts say that now, couples are focused on standing out from the crowd by customizing or βbrandingβ their wedding amenities (gifts, napkins, water bottles, etc.), using AI to optimize planning and create invitations, and focusing on authenticity rather than perfection. Still, the gen is staying true to their (often lower) budgets, with The Knot reporting Gen Z spending an average of $27K on a wedding, which is lower than Millennials’ average of $38K. (NYT)
