Gen Z isn’t as conservative as many outlets report.

Gen Z isn’t as conservative as many outlets report. Despite widespread talk that Gen Z is trending strongly conservative, a post-election report from Catalist shows that Kamala Harris won 55% of the two-party vote among 18-to-29-year-olds in 2024. This is a drop from Joe Biden’s 61% vote from this group in 2020, but is still a clear majority. Young men in this age group did shift right more significantly—Democrats lost -9pts with them compared to 2020—but young women remained progressive, giving Harris nearly +17pts more support than their male peers. Even with overall erosion of Gen Z aligning as Democrats, Gen Z remains the most left-leaning age group in the current electorate. (Slate)
