And on the topic of AI: Would Gen Z marry an AI bot? A new NY Post headline claims the vast majority of Gen Z (80%) would consider sticking with an AI partner for life—but that’s not quite true. The stat comes from a survey by Joi AI, a platform where users can interact with AI companions of all kinds, which even posits itself as a reprieve from real-life dating. While they report more than 100% increases for Google searches like “fell in love with AI” from March to April this year, that doesn’t really reflect how many young people would really say they have. In fact, YPulse’s Dating & Relationships data shows only 17% of 18-24-year-olds agree, “I’m interested in having an AI or virtual girlfriend / boyfriend.” While that’s a notable number, and does reflect an openness to virtual connections, it’s nowhere near a majority who would consider this as a lifelong choice.
