Gen Z grads are worried about getting first jobs, especially in tech. Many entry-level roles are shrinking as AI automates early-career tasks and employers grow hesitant to hire new talent. In tech alone, job postings dropped from 625K in early 2023 to 467K in March 2025. Computer science students are especially worriedβ28% feel “very pessimistic” about starting their careers, up from 18% last year. And according to YPulse, 58% of 18-24-year-olds say AI will take over peopleβs jobs, rather than create more or have no impact.Β They could be right; many companies prefer AI over new hires with 37% of HR leaders saying theyβd rather use a robot than train a grad, according to Business Insider. With limited support and fewer traditional pathways, many young workers are already feeling lost at the starting line. (Business Insider)
