Gen Z subscribes to more apps and services than any other gen. According to a new report from Bango, the average Gen Z consumer pays for nearly seven apps and services per month—26% more than the typical American—adding up to $940 a year. The number with music, gaming, and social app subscriptions outpace the national average, but surprisingly, the number paying for streaming does not. This may be because YPulse data shows 78% of 13-39-year-olds say individual streaming service prices specifically are too high, and these gens spending as much, if not more, time watching free social content than streaming. But the Bango report also found that 62% of Americans overall are interested in bundled options to cut costs and simplify their subscriptions. And with 94% of young consumers open to or loving the idea of streaming bundles, according to YPulse, it’s no wonder why 80% say streaming bundles are “just the new cable.” Streamlined, cost-effective options that bring their different types of media subscriptions together—even one managed by a social platform—could win over clearly eager young consumers.
