TikTok is testing a new location review feature.

TikTok is testing a new location review feature. The new “Reviews” tab in the comment section lets user see ratings, written reviews, and even photos for tagged locations. For example, if users are watching a video tagged in Central Park, they’ll be able to scroll over and instantly see what others have to say and suggest without ever leaving the app. It’s yet another move for TikTok to lean into search and challenge Google, especially with young users. According to YPulse, 68% of 18-24-year-olds are already using social media to look up travel tips, and nearly 34% say social media influences where they want to go—more than the 19% who say online reviews. This new feature combines both resources, potentially elevating social travel reviews. Seeing reviews from real people (not just anonymous star ratings, influencers, or ads) and even being able to click on reviewer profiles could make suggestions more trustworthy and potentially make them more likely to leave their own comments.
