Run clubs are the new social clubs for Millennials.

Mar 11 2025

Run clubs are the new social clubs for Millennials. What was once thought of as a solo sport has turned into a social scene, with thirty-somethings joining run clubs not just for fitness, but to meet new people. Some have even dubbed run clubs “the new dating app”—instead of swiping, many young people are finding potential matches between warm-ups and post-run coffees. But it’s not only about the connections they’re making; Millennials are turning to running for a sense of structure and accomplishment. (YPulse has told you how marathons are reportedly the new quarter-life crisis activity.) It’s likely because the activity provides clear, measurable goals as opposed to bigger milestones that may feel out of reach. And social media is only fueling the trend—apps like Strava and Instagram make it easy to share progress, get encouragement, and find new groups to run with. (NSS)
