An app to get teens excited about coding has gone from Kickstarter to over 500 classrooms. Vidcode which has a 60% female student base, teaches coding through the creation and sharing of photos and videos, offering the “social media-loving teen set a convenient and fun outlet to code in.” The app targets 11-18-year-olds and finds ways to integrate other spaces that teens love, like a contest to create a Snapchat geofilter and the launch of a Pokémon augmented reality game builder.
