Add robots to the list of futuristic tech tools that brick-and-mortar retailers are hoping will help them keep up with the competition (Amazon). By adding robots to take over human work, the grocery and retail industry hopes to eliminate the challenges of physical locations, and “[improve] the overall customer experience and/or convenience.” Walmart recently patented self-driving shopping carts that can retrieve products, check inventory, and connect with consumers, and Lowe’s has announced the addition of LoweBots, multi-lingual, customer assistance bots. (Business Insider)
