Millennials have plenty of debt, and many are shying away from racking up more by avoiding credit cards altogether. A recent survey by CreditCards.com found that 36% of Americans between 18-29-years-old have never had a credit card. The Great Recession might have left Millennials skeptical of banks and cards, and a 2009 law reforming credit card offers made to those under 21-years-old likely contributed to their current status of leaning towards cash, debit, prepaid cards over credit.
