For almost anyone older, 13-year-olds are a mystery, a mystery that CNN’s Anderson Cooper has been investigating for two years. The new special report #BeingThirteen: Inside the Secret World of Teens, airing in October, is the result of child development experts following the social media activity of hundreds of eight graders. Young participants admitted to checking their social accounts more than 100 times a day, and using social as a “real time score board for a 24/7 popularity contest.” (CNN)
