Some young consumers are looking to tech solutions to stay unplugged and focused on the present, and we once called out Yondr as one of the companies helping them create a “be here now” mentality. Now the startup has struck a deal with comedian Dave Chappelle to create no-phone zones at his shows. Attendees get to keep their phones, but must keep them in Yondr pouches that self-lock once inside the venue. Comedians and other performers have an interest in keeping phones off during performances: videos of sets leaked on social media can devalue ticket prices and lead to public backlash. Innovative technology like Yondr could keep them and their fans happy. (Hollywood Reporter)
