Teens may possibly be addicted to their cell phones, but they are staying away from other addictive substances. According to a Monitoring the Future survey, alcohol use among teens is at its lowest since 1975 and binge drinking has declined to 11% from 22% in 1997. Cigarette use is also at an historic low, and they are officially less popular than the other alternatives to lighting up: 6% of high school seniors are smoking pot daily, as compared to the 5.5% who smoke cigarettes daily.
