The British government used self-deprecation in its latest campaign to deter Albanian migrants.

Feb 20 2025

The British government used self-deprecation in its latest campaign to deter Albanian migrants. The “Histori Nga Britania” campaign (meaning “stories from Britain” in Albanian) is a series of short video clips being promoted across social media. The campaign purposely highlights some core issues that the country is facing, such as the cost-of-living crisis, the impact of Brexit on the economy, and discrimination, with images of rundown shops, graffiti, and street dumps. In the video, Albanian immigrants share the struggles they face when coming to the U.K. illegally while others share the pros of going through the official immigration process. Critics have labeled the campaign a “costly failure,” arguing it wastes public money and fails to address migration’s root causes—as well as being an obvious bad publicity for the country. (iNews)
