More young French people are buying toys, especially plushies.

Dec 11 2024

More young French people are buying toys, especially plushies. Toys for consumers over 12-years-old reached 29% of the toy market in France last year, a first in the industry. And among the different toy categories, sales of cuddly toys have grown noticeably—14% in the last 12 months alone. Brands like Little Corgi Cuties and Jellycat are especially popular among French teenagers and young adults, and food-related plushies are best-sellers. Jellycat even opened a “patisserie” in Paris last summer to sell its fluffy toys. The kidulting trend (which YPulse has kept you up to date on) is good news for the toy industry, which has been suffering from the declining birth rate in France, and Europe in general, meaning there’s fewer children than before buying toys. 📊 YPulse data: 74% of French 13-39-year-olds agree, “There’s no shame in an adult buying toys for themselves“
