Gen Z in the U.K. are dropping off dating apps. Ofcom has noticed a decline in usage of the U.K.’s most popular dating apps since 2023, with Tinder losing 600K users, Hinge losing 131K, Bumble losing 368K, and Grindr losing 11K. And while that’s not exclusively Gen Z, some dating app analysts suggest that the novelty of dating apps is fading for younger gens, who increasingly favor in-person meet ups and experiences. Young people are still using these apps but they’re less inclined to using them solely for arranging face-to-face meetings, opting for a more fluid approach—and dating brands are redoubling their efforts to offer interesting IRL experiences.
