Fashion in the metaverse is not a new concept; brands have been exploring virtual spaces for years to engage younger audiences and expand their reach. (As we told them they needed to.) However, this trend is evolving, and virtual fashion is now directly influencing real-world purchases and style. As gaming becomes more of an extension of personal identity, in-game fashion and shopping are becoming more important to young gamers. Young men in particular are deeply invested in these virtual spaces, channeling tons of time (and real money) curating their digital personas, which directly impacts their physical-world shopping habits. After all, YPulse’s Gaming Report found that 45% of 13-39-year-old males say that their avatars represent their personalities (compared to 50% of females).  Our research also shows that young males are spending more on digital fashion.
