Gen Z is splurging on expensive snacks as a small luxury.

Oct 15 2024

Gen Z is splurging on expensive snacks as a small luxury. As rising inflation continues to impact food prices, some Gen Z are resorting to skipping meals to conserve their budget. But others passionately support high-priced snacks from upscale shops like Erewhon, arguing they “can’t live without them.” A McKinsey survey found earlier this year that groceries are the category where Gen Z and Millennials planned to spend the most on, more than restaurants, travel, and fitness. Part of this is driven by a significant portion of Gen Z focusing on buying healthier foods, sometimes simply for the status of it, when bigger purchases are out of the picture. (Business Insider)
