Is Snapchat determining where Gen Z shops? According to EMarketer, 86% of Gen Z (15-26-years-old) social shoppers who use Snapchat have been influenced  to make a purchase by content on the platform, surprisingly a higher number than users of both TikTok (78%) and Instagram (70%). The report also showed that 82% of Gen Z have bought something strictly because of a creators’ content on an item. However, YPulse’s Ad/Marketing Effectiveness data shows TikTok is the top platform Gen Z last saw an ad that made them want to purchase something—whether that’s creator or brand made. But Snapchat’s own research shows that aside from young people’s love for shopping as a hobby, 86% of Snapchat users are comfortable making large purchases online and 75% proudly admit they are impulse shoppers—lending them toward social shopping with the app’s influence.
