Gen Z is partying at home, with young adults today far preferring to have gatherings with their friends in their own spaces than out on the town. But they are eventizing everything, and creating major trends in hosting—as YPulse’s POV: Gen Z Is Hosting trend report explores. And looking at young people’s party posts on social media one thing becomes clear: themes are HUGE. The majority have had a themed party, and most prefer them. In fact, 54% of young people, and 60% of 18-24-year-olds specifically, say they’re more likely to attend an event it’s themed. With 64.7M TikToks showing under a search for “theme party ideas,” there’s no question social is fanning the flames of Gen Z’s interest. The “POV:” and “This is your sign to” captions are all over these vids, prompting viewers to throw their own themed events.
