More grandparents are looking after their grandchildren to help families save money. Childcare is a pressing issue in the U.K., which became the developed country with the most expensive childcare last year. And despite the government introducing 15 hours of free funded childcare per week per child, childcare is still unaffordable for many parents. According to a recent survey by SunLife, a growing number of grandparents are stepping up to help with childcare. Now, 59% help with the care of their grandchildren, a +7pt increase compared to 2023. Grandparents are contributing 18 hours of childcare every week, saving young parents an average of £13,500 per year. (iNews)
