Over 50K French secondary students will leave their phones behind as they head back to school for the new academic year. Since 2018, students in France haven’t been allowed to bring phones into the classroom, but the new trial is banning them completely from the school building—meaning no more looking at screens during breaks. According to the Ministry of Education, the main goal of this “digital break” is to tackle cyberbullying by preventing kids from taking pictures in schools and spreading them on social media.
