Some young students are losing interest in school. A recent Gallup survey revealed that middle and high school students are feeling significantly less engaged in their education this year compared to 2023. Students reported finding school less captivating than last year, with only about half feeling they’re being challenged with their school work. The issue has been particularly high among teens who do not plan to attend college immediately after high school, opting instead for paths like trades. One of the main concerns was a lack of relevance in their classroom learning, with only 46% of students agreeing, “At school, I get to do what I do best every day.” (NPR)
