Apple is now letting developers in the EU offer their iPhone apps directly from their own websites. Last month, the EU fined Apple over €1.8 billion for abusive App Store rules that prevented free competition. Now, Apple is bringing changes to its app development system so developers can more directly make them available to users. But this isn’t completely the end of Apple’s walled garden. App developers will still have to go through Apple’s stringent safety checks as well as paying fees before getting their apps on the iOS environment. (TechCrunch)
