Table manners are becoming more relaxed compared to the past. Etiquette may be behind us as it’s becoming more common to place elbows on the table, start to eat before everyone is served, use utensils improperly, and even take food from someone else’s plate. Many young people do not see these behaviors as a concern, but instead they view them as a sign of progress, creating a sense of togetherness and enjoyment during meals. All gens still seem to agree on modern etiquette though—that is talking with food in your mouth, snapping fingers at servers, and being excessively loud in a restaurant are considered “the rudest things you can do whilst out for a meal.” (Vogue)
