Gen Z is growing disillusionment toward dating apps. The plethora of options has ultimately become a hindrance, leading users to prefer connections that might organically form within their established circles. Authenticity is the most sought after quality to this gen—even when it comes to dating—which is why dating apps are increasingly being criticized for fostering superficial relationships. The fear that these relationships won’t work out, coupled with mental health concerns, is prompting a reluctance to invest in digital connections. Dating app side effects like “swipe fatigue” and the perception of shallow motives contribute to the disenchantment, ultimately pushing Gen Z towards in-person relationships they want to be more physically present for. YPulse’s Dating & Relationships report shows a third of 18-39-year-olds have used dating apps before, but not strictly for finding their forever partner. (NewsBytes)
