TikTok is popularizing the term “karmic partners” amongst daters. Characterized by when the universe essentially “brings two people together so that they can learn important lessons from each other,” the term is taking off online, with the hashtags #KarmicPartner amassing 60.4M views and #KarmicRelationship 9.5M. But while the term is reaching viral status on social media, the idea of karmic partners is not one that started on TikTok; rather, it originates from Buddhism and Hinduism religion and revolves around the concept of karma—that whatever comes around goes around. So, karmic partners are believed to be sent to people to learn from their choices (good or bad) from past relationships. YPulse data shows that many Gen Z and Millennials lean into spiritual practices in their lives, even if it’s not a part of their own religion. (Mashable)
