Grubhub and Amazon linked up to bring an autonomous c-store to Loyola University Maryland. While about 300 colleges and universities use Grubhub Campus to order / pay for food, Loyola is the first campus to contain a store with Amazon’s technology, Just Walk Out, offering “frictionless checkout” for students. Students simply scan a QR code on the Grubhub app, enter the store and pick their desired food / beverages, and then leave with the charges going directly to their meal plan or alternative payment options through the app. The chief operations officer of Grubhub says that this new technology is “designed to enhance and improve the dining experience.” (Retail Dive)
