Another year, another viral Gap campaign. As they did with KATSEYE last year, Gap is putting some of the biggest Gen Z faces in their ads: singer-songwriter Malcolm Todd and actress Inde Navarrette from Obsession. The campaign is another nostalgic musical number, too, this time with Todd covering “Dancing on My Own,” which inspires the title “Denim on your own.” The collection it’s promoting is once again ‘90s inspired, featuring loose fits and “utility-inspired colorways,” and follows their other recent ‘90s-esque collection with Hailey Bieber. Gap knows Gen Z is obsessed with this era of fashion and doesn’t seem to be moving on from it any time soon, so they’re utilizing the nostalgia approach again and again. Back to school season is always denim time, and using the faces Gen Z knows best for vintage styles will likely make Gap a winner again this year. (Marketing Dive)
