A third of teens think AI is cringe. As Wired cites in a new report, YPulse data shows 37% of 13-17-year-olds cringe when they see AI content like music and videos, and more than half worry about it spreading misinformation and deepfakes. Even while usage rates are high, many young people have expressed disdain for the tech as people worry about AI-related job loss, risks to critical thinking skills, and its broader environmental impacts. Some kids tell Wired that AI tools like ChatGPT are decreasing their personal intelligence, while others worry about how it can impact people’s future careers. Others brought up the “creepy” nature of AI-generated videos and images, with one 9-year-old calling an AI-generated commercial she saw “gross.” (Wired)
