The boom stems from Millennials discovering their binders full of trading cards during the pandemic and reigniting the hobby. Now, parents are also instilling that nostalgia in their children, as games, shows, and retailers tie in Pokémon marketing. The craze has become so evident that some schools have banned trading cards. But some teachers have built lesson plans and clubs around the franchise: one teacher’s Pokémon club received 60 sign-ups.
