IShowSpeed’s World Cup song is now an unofficial anthem. Days before the World Cup, released a song and music video called “World Cup (Champions)” in which he sings about national pride and mentions all 48 competing teams. Young fans became so obsessed with the song that FIFA even added it to its official album for the tournament. In many ways, this represents how young people are consuming sports in general. Instead of TV or streaming services, Gen Z and Gen Alpha are drawn to creators who are their own media platforms. IShowSpeed has already made headlines and drawn eyes to the tournament with his massive World Cup tour livestreams—which we’d expect, considering YPulse data shows he ranks seventhamong 13-24-year-olds’ top 10 favorite content creators.
