Many social media users are not happy with the new Gymshark and Bratz collab. Ahead of the collection launch on June 8, there have been some critical reactions to the new collection. While shoppers were excited about a collab that sounded like it could be iconic given Bratz’s fan-favorite Y2K aesthetic, previews of the colorful but otherwise simple sets left people wanting more. One Reddit user commented, “This literally looks like any other Gymshark drop.” Another wrote, “They [are] not even trying anymore, it’s so boring.” On TikTok, some young people are even posting AI-generated mockups of what they thought the collection would look like—covered in more rhinestones, animal prints, and Bratz branding. Collabs can drum up huge excitement, but brands should take note of how young people respond as a reminder to fully embrace the other brands they’re working with. (Reddit, Hypebae)
