Svedka is launching a Y2K-inspired flip phone to push Gen Z to live in the moment. YPulse data shows the retro device trend—including flip phone adoption—is more online hype than mainstream habit, but that doesn’t mean a merch drop won’t be enticing. The limited-edition, Svedka-labeled chrome blue flip phone can be purchased for just $5 through scheduled online drops planned through April. The phone comes with pre-purchased minutes, no internet access, and only the ability to call and text—and a vodka shooter, naturally. It’s the latest move in Svedka’s ongoing mission to get more young people to unplug, following last year’s campaign that challenged people to stay off their phones for a chance to have their bar tab covered. The “Svedphone” launch promotes less scrolling and more living in the moment—a mindset that other brands might need to lean into to connect with young consumers. (Marketing Dive)
