Gen Z men look up to Obama more than Donald Trump. Despite constant news that young men are leaning more right politically—and YPulse’s own data showing they are more conservative than women their age—the figures they look up to aren’t following the exact same pattern. A study of 18-29-year-old males showed 54% say they look up to Obama “a good amount/a great deal,” putting him just below their parents and a coach or teacher, and well above Trump, who 42% look up to. This isn’t the only study which shows this gap either; multiple have found this group holds him in high esteem, well over other conservative figures like Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, and J.D. Vance. One reason may be that young men are often critical of whoever is in power when times are tough, and they were young enough when Obama was in office to have a sense of nostalgia for less chaotic times.
