A new campaign in the U.K. is telling parents to scroll on social media with their kids. The new “You Won’t Know Until You Ask” campaign encourages British parents to have weekly check-ins with their kids to explore their favorite apps together, asking them probing, but friendly questions about the content. (“Which posts make you feel happy? Which posts make you feel uncomfortable?”) Research from YouGov shows half of British parents have never talked to their children about toxic content, and a quarter admit they don’t know what their kids are seeing online, so the campaign hopes to tackle this and target the harmful topics young users may encounter. Plus, the launch comes as ministers face pressure to consider stricter social media measures like Spain and France, who’ve recently imposed social media bans for younger users. (The Times)
