The same AI tools Gen Z uses in school are coming for their first corporate jobs. A new Oliver Wyman Forum study found 68% of Gen Z is anxious about AI automation, even as 58% use it at work multiple times a week—more than any other generation. The concern is warranted, especially as CEOs at Davos this week said AI is already minimizing the need for junior roles. Anthropic even made its own warning that it could erase half of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years. It’s a jarring shift for a generation that has been encouraged to lean into AI as students in the last several years. YPulse data shows 69% of teens have used AI for school in some capacity. However, YPulse data also shows 46% of 18-24-year-olds say there are fewer jobs available to them because of AI, leaving young workers caught between being told to embrace these tools and watching them threaten entry-level opportunities.
