The youngest Gen Z voters swung to Trump in 2024, and now they’re drifting away.

Dec 31 2025

The youngest Gen Z voters swung to Trump in 2024, and now they’re drifting away. According to new data from the Young Men Research Project, 56% of younger Gen Z men (born 2002-2007) now disapprove of Trump, vs. 50% of older Gen Z men. But researchers say it’s not an ideological shift—it’s anti-system energy. This cohort also swung against Democrats in 2024 because of cost-of-living frustrations, and now they’re experiencing what one analyst called “buyer’s remorse.” Surprisingly, they now prefer Democratic congressional control by +17pts for 2026 midterms. What this reveals, as we’ve reported before, is that Gen Z men aren’t uniformly conservative or liberal—they’re deeply persuadable and profoundly distrustful of whoever’s in charge if they don’t create change.
